Peace and Awareness Culture in Schools Initiative

Objectives

Our school has joined the Jockey Club “Peace and Awareness Culture in Schools Initiative” organized by The University of Hong Kong.  The Initiative aims to enhance students’ mental wellbeing and build a mindful culture in School.

What is Mindfulness?

“Mindfulness is the awareness that arises from paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.”  Jon Kabat-Zinn (2013)

 

Benefits of Mindfulness

Mindfulness practices include breathing exercises, sitting, body scan, mindful walking, mindful eating, mindful stretching, etc.  Different mindful activities will benefit students in the developmental aspects of their brains and behavior:

- Enhance concentration and memory

- Boosting confidence and self-esteem

- Building empathy and happiness

- Greater creativity

- Improved behavioral profile

- Lower stress levels and cope better stress

- Improved social skills

 

Implementation of Paws b Curriculum

Our qualified teachers will implement Paws b Curriculum in P3 Personal Growth Education lessons.    For other class levels, they will also have a taste of “Breathing Exercises” to relieve stress and anxiety.
